Summary
By the summer time, the situations about what happened on the animal farm traveled about half the country. Since Mr. Jones was forced out of the animal farm, he had to find some where else to live. He lived in Willingdon. All he did was complain about how he lost his farm to animals and he drank as well. There were two farmers named Mr. Fredrick and Mr. Pilkington and they didn't want the same situation to happen to their farm and with their animals so they decided to work together for the first time in order to save their farms. Mollie one of the farm animals, kept slipping away and putting of her work each and everyday. Clover, caught a man stroking her nose and talking to her and in no time, Mollie was missing, she yet found on the other side of Willingdon. She was never seen or talked about again. In the winter time, the animals have to rebuild a windmill that was said to be by the humans that the walls was too thin so they fell over, but all the animals new that it was the humans that broke it. The humans were testing to see whether the animals can take care the farms by themselves or if in reality they needed the humans.
Quotation
"The animals carried on as best they could with the rebuilding of the windmill, well knowing that the outside world was watching them and that the envious human beings would rejoice and triumph if the mill were not finished on time" (Orwell 74).
Reaction
At this time, it was winter and it was very cold with sleet and snow falling. The animals had to keep on working so that they could keep the farm up. they had more work thrown on their backs when they had to rebuild the windmill back up. The animals knew that the humans were watching them and they were the ones coming to their farm and destroying their property. The humans were just out to hurt the farm so that they could prove that the farm could not function well with out them. This was not fair for the humans to do that because they are giving the animals more work to do on top of the things that has to get done. Instead of just standing aside and watching if they are doing the job, they wanted to make them seem that they were doing a bad job in general.

Animal Farm (1- 43)
Summary
The story takes place in England on a farm called Manor Farm. The owner of the farm is Mr. Jone. There are many animals on the farm. Old Major is the prize Middle White boar, the there were three dogs named Bluebell, Jessie, and Pincher. The two cart-horses were Boxer and Clover, then came the Muriel, the white goat and Benjamin, the donkey. Old Major who is the oldest of all the animals, delivers a speech telling the other farm animals that Man is their enemy and that they need to form a rebellion against Man because their are like slaves and they are being mistreated. They made up the rule that, whatever is on two legs is the enemy and whatever is on four legs or has wings is a friend. Upon those rules, there were more like: No animal is to live in a house or sleep in a bed, or wear clothes, or drink alcohol, or smoke tobacco, touch money or engage in trade because all things Man is evil. Three days after Old Major delivered his speech, he died in his sleep. After his death, they decided to continue to keep his words in their minds and form a rebel. One day the animals didn't get fed because Mr. Jones got so drunk and forgot. So the cows broke down the front door and started eating and other animals joined them as well. Mr. Jones' men tried to stop them but they got kicked in all directions. The Men gave up and fled the scene as well with Mr. Jones and therefore the farm was left for the animals and the Rebellion was successful.
Quotation
"The life of an animal is misery and slavery: that is the plain truth" (Orwell 18).
Reaction
I agree with this quote because sometimes people have animals just to mistreat them or they look them in the house or seclude them in the basement. I believe, just as humans, animals have feelings as well. Most people may not believe it but it is true. Animals do live a life a misery and slavery. How do people know that animals want to be in house all the time? Maybe the animal wants to run around outside or something. But I believe that this quote is 100% true.

Hip Hop Matters (1- 51)
Summary
Hip Hop started to out number other music genres between the years 1989. Raps Market increased tremendously over time. Age groups starting at 10 to 29 years old were buying hip hop/ rap Cd's. Because hip hop was the music most people were listening to at the time, pop princesses like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera began to incorporate hip hop producers, performers, and choreographers so that they would be able to stay on top of their game and stay current and fresh in the Hip Hop movement. People were not really interested in the music itself but they were interested in the technology used to create the different beats and to make the music. Two guys named Michael Shalett and Michael Fine created a new invention called the soundscan. Fine and Shalett had to make a business out of the SoundScan so the asking price for this product was 800,000. They had to create alot of business and provide information about the new product they were trying to sell because the asking price was a lot of just a system. In the late 1992, Interscope and Death Row let out their first album by Dr. Dre called The Cronic. This title was referred to Marijuana which was what Death Row members smoked while working on their music. Hip Hop was including drugs into their work.
Quotation
"The album's title was a reference to an especially potent blend marijuana that many of Death Row's key figures enjoyed smoking while they worked and played" (Watkins 48).
Reaction
This quote made me think that as early as 1992, Hip Hop was already starting to get based upon drugs already. They were so use to smoking marijuana that they wrote songs about it and played around while smoking it. This also made me think that Hip Hop/rap songs now in 2010, they still take about drugs in their songs and they all talk about those types of things in their songs and they make money off it. Those songs also influence kids at a young age because at the age of 10 they were buying rap Cd's and learning the songs, so just at the age of 10 they were learning about marijuana and things like that.

Not Easily Broken (The Movie)
Movie Summary
The Movie opens up with a voice over through the marriage of Clarice and David. Even though we can hear faint sounds of people talking and music, David's voice was the one talking over the whole marriage. In the book, it started off directly at the accident scene then took us back to how the whole thing happened but in the movie, it started at the wedding and then let us meet all the characters then the accident scene happened. The movie cut out the parts where they were taking Clarice out of the car and the boy that hit them, the scene was short, the accident happened then the showed the ambulance coming then they went straight to the hospital. Just like in the book, the movie focuses on Dave's prospective of the marriage. But the book also highlights Julie Sawyer's life with her son and the movie cuts down on some of that and focuses more on Julie's relationship with Dave. There were a lot of birds eye view of the street with cars on the highway. There was also a character cut out of the movie that was in the book, Dr.Carmen McAtee, instead of the couple going to Dr. McAtee , they just went to talk to their Bishop, Bishop G.A. Wilkes. At the end of the movie, there was a tracking shot that lead to the sky. The music was also based on the event, when there was a funeral, they had really sad music and at the end of the movie, there was every happy music because the couple ended up working it out.

Not Easily Broken (150-245)
Sumamary
Clarice is starting to notice that her marriage is on the verge of falling apart so she decieds to go talk to her priest, the person who married them, G. A. Wilkes. He then told her to contact the family practitioner Dr. Carmen McAtee. Now Clarice is trying to get her life and her marriage back on track after messing it all up. When they were at Dr. McAtee, they had to answer questions and in the boxes, they had to check off boxes about what kinds of problems they had. Some of their problems that they checked were my marriage, depression, communication with significant others, and sexual issues. But the real thing that they needed to deal with was learning how to accept one another and letting a husband be a husband and a wife be a wife, and also learning when you are in need of help that you shouldn't be afraid to ask. At the end of the book, Dave's baseball team won their game and Clarice finally understood why the team was so important to him and why it meant so much to him, also for the first time, Clarice called him Dave and not David. They ended up getting through their problems and moving foward and being the married couple that they should have been in the begining, and thats why their marriage was Not Easily Broken because they made through everything.
Quotation
"There was a tiny dot inside the one that said, "Having thoughts of suicide," but no check" (Jakes 151).
Reaction
When I read this quote I was shocked, but at the same time I didn't really feel sorry for her. The reason is because she digged a hole on her own and now she has to pay the consequence for her actions. But it still really surprised me because when I think of suicide I think that, that is the last resort and that suicide is not even a choice because every problem can be solved.

Not Easily Broken (100-150)
Summary
Clarice is now back to work and she has a walking leg brace on. Since her right leg was the one who got broken, she had to learn how to drive her car with her left foot. But through all those troubles, she was still happy to be back at work. On the other hand, Dave invited Bryson, Julie Sawyer's son to play baseball with his team. But because Bryson is a swimmer and not a baseball player he wasn't that good and the other kids on the team laughed at him because he couldn't hit the ball. Dave is starting to feel like he is safe and relaxed and happy around Julie and Bryson. He feels more at home when he is with them than with Clarice. He feels so much better when he is with them that he starts to dream about Julie in ways that he doesn't dream about Clarice. Dave lies to Clarice about who his talking too and he meets up with her to eat. He would even go through the trouble of driving 3 hours to see Bryson swim.
Quotation
"Chill, sister," he said, holding up a hand. "If I want to drive over on Saturday and watch my man Bryson, you don't need to make a thing out of it, you know what I'm sayin'?" (Jakes 122).
Reaction
This quote shows that Dave is treating Bryson like he is his own son. Because Clarice doesn't pay him any mind and doesn't give him any attention so he is trying to find happiness from somewhere else. He would travel 3 hours to see Bryson swim in a swim meet, that shows that he is dedicated to this family. I think that maybe if Clarice didn't push Dave away so much, maybe he wouldn't try to find love and happiness somewhere else.

Not Easily Broken (50-100)
Summary
Dave has spent days calling for a physical therapist and he finally finds one, Julie Sawyer. When Dave comes home to tell Clarice, she acts like she doesn't care and tries to act happy but Dave can tell that she isn't. The thing that Clarice is trying to tell David is that she is depressed because she can't do anything while her leg is broken and he is depressed about it. Clarice is still not letting David do anything for her and their relationship is quickly fading away to the point where they don't even want to be in the same room with each other and they can't talk to each other. Clarice doesn't only act this way with David, she acts this way with basically everybody who wants to help her. When she first met with Julie Sawyer she didn't really want to answer her questions or wanted to respond and cooperate with Julie, but she kind of lightened up. I wonder with Clarice's attitude towards people trying to help her is going to change or is it just going to get worst as time goes on.
Quotation
"It was like talking to somebody who wasn't really there. And the worst part of it was that he felt more and more as if he weren't really there, as if he were saying lines somebody else had written" (Jakes 57).
Reaction
When I read this quote, it made me realize what road Clarice and Dave's relationship was going. After they got into the accident it was like they were growing more and more apart. The more Dave tried to do things to make Clarice happy, the more Clarice pushed him away and made him feel like he was doing nothing at all. At this point their relationship to me is fading away, they are acting like a Landlord and tenant would act. They have to tolerate each other because they live with each other not because their married.

Not Easily Broken (1-50)
Summary
The book starts off in the Middle of Action. It opens up with Clarice and Dave Johnson being in a car accident. Dave is conscience and able to get out the car, but since the other car hit them on the passenger side, Clarice is jammed inside the car. This whole process of the accident started when Clarice had a dinner party to go to for her job, and Dave was running late from work. Clarice started yelling at him and they got into an argument about how he was always late for everything. Dave and Clarice then got into the car, about after short amount of time of silence, Clarice starts up again and as Dave is driving on his green light signal, a kid runs a red light and hits them. Clarice's leg is badly broken in some many places and she ends up getting surgery to fix the broken bones. Clarice is a very strong and independent women and likes to do things on her own, but Dave wants to help her and wants her to let him be the the husband that she needs but Clarice can't find the heart to let him be there for her. Clarice has another problem which is she doesn't like to let people know that she is in pain or she has any problems with her. She basically just puts on an act in front of everyone. On the other note, Dave is a coach of a little league baseball team for the kids who don't really have much to do but get into trouble. I believe that Dave is a very kind and open-hearted person and I think that all he wants is to be there for the people that he loves and to try to make a difference in kids who don't have it as good as other kids lives.
Quotation
"Just about the first thing she could remember was her mother talking about how you had to depend on yourself" (Jakes 37).
Reaction
As I read this quote, a question automatically popped in my head, If you depend on yourself way too much, couldn't that effect your ability to let someone else help you? In this case Clarice depends on herself so much that she doesn't have the courage to just push her ego aside and let Dave help her. I understood the fact that she is a strong and independent women but you can still ask for help when you need it and still be strong and independent. I agree with what her mother said about "depend on yourself" but that doesn't mean to push everyone out of your way when you know you need help, just let people help you and you can still be dependant on yourself. What I think that Clarice needs to understand is that she can't go through this healing process by herself she needs Dave and she needs to let him be the husband that he needs and wants to be.
