Unmasked (121-160)

Summary

Between the pages 121-160, the book talked about how Lisa Marie Presley and Michael Jackson's marriage was fake. They got a divorce after just 19 months, Lisa Marie Presley stated that she believed that Michael could help her with her recording career and Michael Jackson was using Lisa Marie to get past the media calling him homosexual. They were both using each other for something and putting an act in front of everyone that they were a prefect couple. Another situation that happen between those pages was that Michael was hanging his child out the window. That started another controversy, he was called "MAD BAD DAD" in the headlines of papers. They than called child protection experts but they did not press charges on him.

Quotation

As said by Katharina Abelmann-Vollmer, "When it is someone else other than Michael Jackson dangling their child sixty feet above the street, then there would definitely have been a prosecution. There is one rule for rich and famous and one for ordinary people" (Halperin 134).

Reaction

When I read this quote it made me think. The reason why it made me think is, it is true that there are different rules for famous people than there are for ordinary people. If an ordinary person who hang their child sixty feet in the air, they would send them to counseling because they'll think that their crazy or they could send that person to jail for child abuse. For certain things famous people wouldn't get charged for it but an ordinary person would. But on the other hand Michael wasn't trying to put his child in danger, he was just trying to show the world his new baby. He was all for child protection and he wouldn't want to hurt any child, his or anyone else's
